Live, From Space!
Outer space came to AISD last week, when O. Henry Middle School students got to participate in a live conversation with astronauts on the International Space Station. Through a NASA-sponsored downlink transmission, Expedition 30 Commander Dan Burbank and Flight Engineers Don Pettit and Andre Kuipers answered questions and talked to students about their work.
Students asked the astronauts questions about their daily lives—how they ate, slept, and moved around the space station—and about how to become an astronaut. (Hint: Study hard and be the best at what you do.) Congressman Lamar Smith attended the event, along with visitors from the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
What a great way to
learn about space and science—in real time and from space. Thanks to
these great astronauts for taking the time to visit with our students.
Bon voyage!
