It's Texas Education Human Resources Day

Governor Perry has proclaimed October 13, 2010, as Texas Education Human Resources Day to help build awareness of the crucial role human resources (HR) professionals play in recruiting, staffing, and retaining quality staff to provide an excellent education for all students.

This is certainly true in Austin. Our Office of Human Resources, led by Chief Officer Michael Houser,  is a valued and respected department, one that is vital to the overall productivity and efficiency of the District. This is because it sustains our most important asset — people. HR employees also play a key role in fostering satisfaction and loyalty among employees by keeping them informed about policies, working conditions, compensation, and benefits.

This morning, we held a small celebration with our HR staff, and I was happy to thank them personally for their work in recruiting and retaining the best public school district staff in the whole state of Texas!

It was also a treat to present a certificate to HR Executive Director Pam Hall for her 32 years of service to AISD. Congratulations, Pam!

Staff, I know how busy you are with student instruction and many other District projects, but please — as part of our District employee recognition program, "Bravo" — take a moment today to express your appreciation to our HR team members for their dedication and commitment to AISD employees and schools. Nothing would make the HR team feel more appreciated than hearing from their colleagues.
